Regarding Multiple Clans

Postby shekkie75 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:50 am

It's inevitable that as our clan grows and we venture into games that are more and more controlling over the clan aspects that the need arises for MAAN to create multiple clans, in game, to handle all of our members looking to be a part. We saw this with KZ2 where we had MAAN, MAaN and MaAN. Multiple in game clans but all part of MAAN and all members of our forums here.

Recently it's come the attention of the Admins that some members have joined other clans, clans with their own forums, and continued to be MAAN members. This is something that we've always felt strongly against and as a rule we allow MAAN members to be in 1 clan only.

Putting aside that it shows a commitment to MAAN the biggest reason we allow membership in 1 clan is because we have sensitive forums that MAAN members have access to here. Being MAAN implies that you will respect the privacy of other members and not share information in those forums. We cannot abide members of other clans having access to that information.

If you are in multiple clans, you have a decision to make. If you wish to remain MAAN, game on. If you wish to leave MAAN let a MAANager know via PM and we can get it sorted.

Thank you.

Not trying to be argumentative, but what about guilds for PC MMO's that have their own forums?

No problem. YOu can look at the Title bar for your answer....we are a PS3 gaming clan, these rules pertain to PS3 gaming.

Thanks Shek.

Now for arguments sake, would the Admins have an issue if someone joined an Xbox only clan?

I can't say for sure. If something like that came up it would just be addressed as its own issue. I doubt there would be an issue though.

Wouldn't the answer be no to both points zwdiesel brought up? If its about protecting member sensitive information, then what difference does it make if its an Xbox only clan or PC gaming clan? It's still another clan made up of, mostly, non-MAAN members.

The sensitive information I'm more concerned with is stuff like strategy, etc. If you're putting your personal information online, anywhere.....that's your own thing and you have to be prepared for what comes with it.

What should we do, tell every MAAN they can't go on any other websites? Who are we the American Government?

It wasn't clear what sensitive information you were talking about. That's why I asked. Thought maybe you were implying about family photos and other private/sensitive information like that which is found in our Private forums. Carry on.

i see your point it is technically the same.

but thats a slippery slope argument, technically that arguement would be the same for any internet forum site, be it about gaming, guns, cars, tranny porn what ever.

EDIt.. my bad i assumed the same as twodogs

i know personally i am a member of a pc gaming guild for an MMO, the same that diesel was referring to

What about being friends with Ncrw or FBC or WWW, registering as guest on their forums and gaming with their members yet carrying the MAAN tag?

Aren't those mainly PS3 clans too? Who are registered members to both clans? I doubt guest/friend status let's one view the sensitive forums. Then from what Shekkie is saying, all that you mention is fine.

I think it just boils down to either you are MAAN or you are not. If you want to be in another PS3 clan by all means do it, just don't expect to carry a MAAN tag as well. I don't think being friends with anyone or posting on their forums(as long as it is not strategy or personal info about MAAN) is a problem.
