Have a random question about the game that doesn't deserve its own thread? Let's post them here- someone (I'm looking at you, Mateo) will hopefully have the answer.

Here's mine: I've gotten a few kills from beam turrets even though I wasn't manning them. I can't figure out why I was credited with the kills. Was it because I built it, or maybe I was the closest person to it when it shot down the hawk?

You can see the limit by holding down the triangle button. It'll say in the upper right, usually 32. I love building walls and turrets. You get bonus xp for building lots of stuff, and credit for turret and beam kills. Just make sure to make a gate if you need access to an area.
If we're reaching our limit, I'll start reclaiming redundant structures, or if I need a vehicle, I'll reclaim the corral or garage once I have what I need.

If a turret you built killed someone, you get the kill and XP.

It is a good thing to build turrets. They provide a safe area for your teammates who are flying and you'll get the credit if they kill someone. Also, if you man the turret, you can do a better job at targeting an enemy. The automatic turret takes time to acquire a target and drops shooting at it sooner than a human would.

What does ranking up do for you in the long run? Will there be any upgrades or unlocks?

From the Starhawk Beta Wiki:

Your team has a limited number of buildings they're allowed to build (32). Therefore:

Generally speaking, look around before building, and avoid building duplicates. Your team doesn't need 2 or 3 Razorback garages at Home. There are exceptions to this "rule", but don't worry about them right now.

Do not build a ton of buildings at Home. That uses-up your team's build limit. Your team needs to be able to build things close to, or in, the enemy Home.

An "impenetrable fortress of walls" CAN be penetrated, or flown over, or destroyed, and can be used by the enemy as cover. Walls aren't going to win you the game. So don't over-build them. Learn to fight.

However, if you're in a pinch, and get pushed back to your base, there is nothing wrong with throwing down extra turrets/walls. Remember that build times are almost instant so they'll be up and helping in no time. Once you get some breathing room just reclaim the excess.

Good question. In games like COD rank progression unlocks new weapons, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. There must be some advantage to it, other than a higher number, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Ranking up doesn't do anything for you now. And i doubt it will do anything for you in the future (Warhawk never did.)

So in other words, the skill that gives you an XP bonus is a waste of a skill. Got it.

I haven't figured it out. It is dumb that they only show one page. Sort the page in different ways, and you'll see different games. I tend to follow another MAAN and not use the list.

On the clan membership screen, what do the symbols on your rank mean? Some have silver squares, gold diamonds, etc. Mizzard has a weird blue birdshit looking thing. I got nothing and I'm jealous.

This is a bug in the game for now, it only shows ~20 games no matter what filter settings you choose.

Hi @Malazak! There's a known server-list bug that we're working on. Until we fix it try using different filter types to see more games.

Are there weapon upgrades i can pick up in the tank like you can for the hawk? I had a lot of fun shooting hawks down and even got a two for one last night but it would be cool.to be able to lock on.

Not sure. But it looks like it has something to do with W/l ratio and/or KDR.

It is most likely related to your "Skill" rating. Look at the clan leaderboard, you can see those icons on groups of players.

It is most likely related to your "Skill" rating. Look at the clan leaderboard, you can see those icons on groups of players.

The icons are an indication of skill. I don't understand the order entirely, but I was a gold diamond at one point last night, got my ass handed to me, and at the end of the round i was a silver circle.

I think it goes, highest to lowest:
rift star
5 point star
diamond (square at 45 degress)
circle

gold
silver
bronze

I think the color and shape indicate two different things. I can't wait to learn what this means!
