We've got some exclusive news and some new dates for you all. It looks like EA/DICE is rolling out a premium content service, and are also planning to drop 5th expansion after their previously announced End Game DLC. In addition, there will be a DOUBLE XP WEEKEND this weekend, May 12th - 14th!

Battlefield Premium : June 4th
Battlefield™ Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options.

Close Quarters : June 12th

August 2012: Bonus Content

Fall 2012 : Armored Kill

Winter 2012 : End Game

though i'm not sure what to think of "Battlefield™ Premium" yet. my initial impression isn't great, but i'll reserve judgement until the full details are known.

Maybe I can double up on my Recon class. It takes forever to finish this class off. They really nerfed this class taking away the C4 and 1-shot kill aggressive snipers. Which I don't mind at all. I was sick of quick scoping recon guys in BFBC2.

Looks good for the future of BF3. Like Jsin I am skeptical of the Battlefield Premium so far.

Premium all depends on what they do with it. If it gets DLC at a slight discount, I'm in. If it is simply extra "stuff", like customization items and dogtags then I'm most likely out.

A premium knife seems like a bit of a waste, you have it out what 5-10 seconds at a time? Unless it has a shorter cool down time, but I will be interested in what they come up with in assignments.

i don't think it will change the way the knife works, it's just going to get a new skin. that doesn't really interest me, nor do the dogtags. the assignments are the only thing that peak my interest there. hopefully premium works like tasty described.

Fancy knives & skins don`t interest me... but then I`m guilty of playing this game after a good few beers, & downloading the SPECACT MP skins & dog tag pack at £2.39

Be Advised, Battlefield 3 players - This weekend we'll be doubling every experience point that you earn on the Battlefield ranked servers. Every kill, assist, revive - you name it, it's doubled.

At the conclusion of each match the bonus XP will be reflected as "Additional Points". Double XP will be accrued across all ranked servers and matches.

It will be 1 week early, but there hasn't been an official date yet.

wtf...why does the first double xp have to be on the weekend I have to start moving into a new apartment and working like crazy. I will try to get on tomorrow night for a little bit

As for premium it really depends on price. I have a $20 PSN card ready for close quaters. Thats really my budget for gaming this summer. I need to go get a controller as my newest controller has a few buttons that are not always working.

Its nice to see they're planning to support the game all the way into next year. Should give it some longevity. I imagine all this is gonna be pretty expensive though.
And I don't know if I'll be able to get on at all this weekend

Not so sure about EA, but I know that DICE will support their product. BF2 was supported long after it's release date, and was beloved by it's community.
